Main Ingredients

  • Basmati rice – 1 cup, rinsed and soaked 15 minutes

  • Water – 2 cups

For Tempering

  • Ghee or oil – 1½ tbsp

  • Cumin seeds – 1½ tsp

  • Bay leaf – 1 (optional)

  • Salt – to taste


🍽️ Instructions

  • Prepare the Rice – Drain soaked rice thoroughly.

  • Bloom the Cumin – Heat ghee in a pot. Add cumin seeds and bay leaf; let them crackle gently.

  • Toast the Rice – Add drained rice and stir carefully for 1 minute to coat grains.

  • Cook Gently – Add 2 cups water and salt. Bring to a boil, then cover and simmer on low for 12 minutes.

  • Rest & Fluff – Turn off heat. Let rice rest covered for 5 minutes, then fluff gently.
